Black is the new white for Jason

Jason was well,,,, shall we say struggling with the driver.

As you can tell by the picture Jason is a strong golfer. Like every other golfer he lost his way with the big dog. During the fitting we identified a couple of swing issues to help get the ball in the fairway. Then we determined the proper shaft and loft of the driver to get the right spin and launch characteristics. Because of his strong release, Jason needed a shaft more stiff than if just going by his swing speed. We also found a little heavier shaft let him find the club during the swing. The numbers with the Xcaliber tour driver shaft where a leap better than the same flex with a lighter shaft.

Finally, as a small tweak to the black driver, I placed a small weight in the hosel to help Jason close the club. This is a trick used by club makers when wood woods were in vogue. Jason picked up a Wishon 919th, Xcaliber tour shaft and a Golf Pride CP2 grip.

Thank You Jason

Jim

Todd and his Irons

Todd is a golfer looking to hits irons better. The fitting resulted in a great new set of irons. We found that his swing is very good. His current set was for a golfer that was improving. Todd's abilities were better than that.

The set we found to work best was a Wishon 575 iron.  A players forged iron that was featured on a Golf digest hot list. We mounted KBS tour 90 shafts for a bit pop into the ball and finished them with Winn Drytec grips.

Thanks Todd.

Jim

Maurice got a brand new bag

Love referencing iconic sounds.

Maurice is a great guy with a great attitude for life, religion and golf.  during the fitting we worked on some swing issues which resulted in a new set of irons- Wishon 979s, a new driver - Wishon 919th and an Xcaliber SL shaft , a new hybrid from ORKA golf with an Xcaliber SL hybrid shaft and a new putter from Wishon the S2R.

Thank You Maurice and hitem straight.

McGolf Continues the Ladies Fittings with an LPGA Member

When completing the Masters like build ( see other posts in our blog) another McGolf Friend from West Virginia wanted to visit. Turns out she is an LPGA member, instructor, writer and healer.

Judie is a very accomplished golfer and her putting stroke is just fantastic. It is always a pleasure to talk golf while performing a fitting. I get so many ideas about the swing and how other professionals approach similar issues.

Fitting the putter was amazing, we used her original putter and made it slightly shorter, bent it to the proper lie/ loft angles, added a superstroke #1 grip and topped it off with a balance certified weight to over come a very slight tremor. When she picked the PING putter up it allowed her balance to be on the slight line and the added weight in the grip smoothed out the short stroke. Her posture and stroke were text book.

When we completed the iron and driver fitting, we found the Wishon 560 a forgiving forged clubhead matched to an Xcaliber tour shaft. This shaft fit Judie because  she wanted to feel the club head weight but needed a lighter shaft. The tour shaft was the perfect call. We added three Callaway hybrids and dropped fairway woods from the bag. Finally we placed the Wishon 919th HL (we didn't want a loft number on the bottom) with an ultralight shaft to create a little extra head speed.

Oh, she wanted green in the logo too. So green it was. Truly a pleasure!!

If you thought club companies built to a one size fits all, women's clubs a factor worse. You had better like pink, small grips, very flexible shafts one inch short from men's clubs and flowers.  If that's not you, then a fitting can certainly help your performance and your pink golf club affliction

McCallaway, Accra and Golf Pride for Hybrids

The last installment of the McGolf Combination of the Accra FX 200 shaft, New Callaway Big Bertha heads and Golf Pride Dual Decade grips. It seems the Dymatch process of the Accra Shafts have won over our McGolf Friend and he has finished the Driver, Fairway woods and now the Hybrids in a process that will produce the same feel and results through the set. The Golf Pride grips will provide the confident feel and texture to allow for a smooth swing and great results with the new Callaway Big Berth Heads. The color match, the fit is sure, the grips are proven and the McGolf Bing adds that last touch needed for a great club. McCallaway.

UPDATE: Our McGolf friend picked up the new hybrids and is very pleased with the FWs and the driver.

Piretti Love at Mcgolf

Piretti Putters are some the of the best tour tested fully milled putters available. Their idea of slightly heavier putters of 365 to 400 gram putters and lower lofts have been a hit and produce soft yet crisp feel. Combine the excellent craftsmanship, Iomic grip, super cool headcover and a FREE fitting from a Golf Digest 2015 top 100 Club Fitter for the best flat stix you find in ANY bag.

Check out the different styles in an awesome titanium finish (gun metal to most of us) and find out why it won the Dubai championship and PGA tour championship in the same year.

Wishon, ACCRA and Pure Grip Strike Again

Mr. Beers was looking to regain some distance off the tee. His miss was a hook and after displaying a 110 mpg swing speed I could tell the current shaft head combo were not right. We settled on a Wishon 919th with the new black sole and face upgrade. Then we added an ACCRA TourZ and topped it off with a red PURE grip. I am sure the hooks will not be found for some time and he can step into the driver with no worries.  We also put a balance certified weight to put the feel in the hands not the head. a great looking combo.

You might say "Hey Jim, there are some other pics on the article too" I'd have to say yep! Mr Beers was wanting to try out some other hybrid styles.  I had some shaft pulls from my new Callaways and put them in the Adams with some new White Pure Grips. At least they look good if they don't work out.

McCallaway, ACCRA, Golf Pride and the Fairway Woods

The ACCRA Fx series shafts are gaining serious popularity, A friend of McGolf came in for a fitting and placed an ACCRA Fx200 in a new Callaway Big Bertha driver. We coined "McCallaway" after improving the club with an ACCRA shaft and a Golf Pride Dual Decade grip. The special part about this build is the ability to dynamically match the fairway woods and hybrids to the driver. Soooooooo, when the driver worked, our friend went for the gold ( I said that because the ACCRA is a yellow-gold color) and put some brand new ACCRA Fx 200 fairway wood shafts into some new Callaway Big Bertha FW's. Another McCallaway ready for play. I cant go much further without mentioning the Golf Pride grips. An excellent match in color to the shaft and performance with the half cord design.

2 wheels or 4, they come to McGolf

Another friend of McGolf came in on this sweet Street Glide (yes I think its awesome). He just received some new Mizuno J-series irons and wanted some grips that fit. We made sure the the grips he wanted fit and took the clubs. The couple went for some dinner. When they came back the clubs were gripped and back in the box.

Kudos to the couple for braving the ride with a box of clubs and a nod to the passenger that held onto them the entire trip!

A Masters Like Custom Build

Maclyn, is an avid golfer looking to lower her scores and do better at the local golf club. After an iron fitting we found the proper length, flex, clubhead style and grip. One slight catch, She likes green. Pure Grips with the aggressive DTX pattern was a great choice in the right size, the ACCRA I series shaft came in the proper weight and flex and finishing it off with a Forged Wishon 560 head.
Robin suggested we help her enjoy the clubs even more by throwing some green on the clubs along with the green grips she selected. See how they turned out

Piretti Putter week.

The Piretti Putter Co. is a small company that has had some big success. This company is producing completely milled putters that are used on tour, most famously by Henrik Stenson to win the Dubai championship and the PGA championship in the same year.

The folks at Piretti are about making clean and slightly unique putters. You wont find a putter with fangs or horns but you will find high end German or Damascus Steels with outstanding feel. The "regular" line is an affordable steel putter that transmits feel and after a McGolf Fitting produces some repeatable, favorable and just down right great results.

See the Folks below that found a Piretti Putter that Mcfits them

New Clubs for an Old Friend

Bob is a good golfer and a golf fanatic. Its always a pleasure to get a round in with him for some good natured ribbing, good golfing and great competition. Bob was looking to upgrade this year and after a fitting we found the Callaway XR with the stock "S" shaft to be a great fit. we cut down the club for a better fit and put on a golf pride  CP Wrap grip in midsize. He also had us put a new grip on a NEW Callaway Xr Hybrid. This is his first trip with Callaway. I look for strokes now when we get together next
